It has a 13.6-inch 2560 x 1664 display, a 1080p webcam, and a pair of Thunderbolt 3 ports. Its M2 processor has an eight-core CPU and eight-core GPU that’s getting a bit long in the tooth for demanding applications, but is sufficiently powerful for most tasks. For example, the laptop had no trouble during our testing when editing and exporting high resolution images in Adobe Lightroom Classic, or quickly exporting a 4K video using Adobe Premiere. The MacBook Air’s fanless design means the CPU and GPU will get throttled when they’re under load for an extended period of time, but that’s to be expected. One of the few setbacks with the M2 MacBook Air (fixed in newer versions) is that you can only connect it to one external monitor at a time. If that issue doesn’t apply to you, or if you’re willing to overlook it at this price, the M2 MacBook Air is a great purchase. Apple’s M2 MacBook Air is currently available for $599 during Cyber Monday, a significant price reduction from its typical $799 retail price. This deal, offered exclusively by Best Buy, presents a compelling opportunity for consumers seeking a capable and relatively modern laptop. The offer includes a 13-inch M2 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage.

This deal represents a 25% discount, effectively lowering the purchase price by $200. Notably, this price is substantially lower than the standard $749 price for the M2 MacBook Air, which features only 8GB of RAM. Furthermore, this offer surpasses the price currently offered by Walmart, which continues to sell the 2020 M1 MacBook Air for $549.

The MacBook Air itself retains design elements that have remained consistent across recent iterations, including its sleek, slate-like aesthetic, initially introduced with the M2 generation. The laptop incorporates a 13.6-inch 2560 x 1664 display, a 1080p webcam, and two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The M2 processor, equipped with an eight-core CPU and eight-core GPU, provides sufficient performance for a range of tasks. During testing, the laptop demonstrated smooth operation while editing high-resolution images in Adobe Lightroom Classic and quickly exporting 4K video using Adobe Premiere.

It’s important to acknowledge a historical limitation: the M2 MacBook Air previously featured a single external monitor support. However, this issue has been addressed in subsequent models, meaning this particular limitation does not apply to the current Cyber Monday offer. A common drawback of the M2 MacBook Air’s fanless design is the potential for thermal throttling under sustained heavy workloads. This means that the CPU and GPU may reduce their clock speeds to prevent overheating, which can impact performance. This is a predictable consequence of the design and is a characteristic of similar fanless laptops.

The inclusion of 16GB of RAM is a key benefit of this Cyber Monday deal, enhancing multitasking capabilities and improving overall system responsiveness. The 256GB SSD provides ample storage space for applications, files, and multimedia content. For users requiring a portable and productive device without compromising on performance, the M2 MacBook Air—particularly at the discounted Cyber Monday price—offers a practical solution.
