Our favorite wireless earbuds for most people, the Nothing Ear (a), are marked down to just $79 in all three colors—black, white, and yellow—a healthy discount from the already affordable $109 price point. They have an excellent, open audio profile, top-tier touch controls, and impressive noise canceling for such a small pair of earbuds.Photograph: Parker HallNothingEar (a)$109 $79 (28% off) Amazon$89 $59 (34% off) NothingBeyond the excellent price, the Nothing Ear (a) offer a surprisingly complete package. They have excellent sound for both music and phone calls, with an open midrange that's perfect for more acoustic music. Our reviewer Parker Hall found them particularly great for listening to jazz, where the twinkling highs and great definition in the low end bring out the best details in your tunes. They have excellent noise canceling, up there with some of our favorite earbuds, and have great transparency mode in case you need to stay aware of your surroundings instead. With noise canceling on, you can expect 5.5 hours of run time on a single charge, impressive stamina for earbuds at this price point. While they work well with both major mobile platforms, the quick pairing for Android devices is a nice benefit. The touch controls are best-in-class, with a squeezable stem instead of a capacitive touch that's easy to access quickly but won't fire off by accident when you scratch your ears. While we found them to be really comfortable, they are a bit on the big side, so people with smaller ears might want to consider a different option. While the version we tested was the race-ready bright yellow, all three colors are marked down on Amazon, at least as I write this. The white pair have a distinctly Airpod-like appearance, with a translucent stem to stand out, and the black color are also marked down, if you'd rather stay more incognito. While we think the Nothing Ear (a) are a great pick for most people. We have a roundup that includes all of our favorite wireless earbuds in case you want something more traditional.CommentsBack to topTriangleBrad Bourque is a contributor for WIRED with a focus on computing hardware and peripherals. The Nothing Ear (a) earbuds are currently discounted to $79 across all colorways—black, white, and yellow—representing a significant reduction from their original $109 price point. Parker Hall, a contributor for WIRED, highlights these earbuds as a strong choice for most consumers, emphasizing their excellent open audio profile, top-tier touch controls, and impressive noise canceling capabilities, particularly for listening to jazz. Hall specifically notes the earbuds’ great detail in the low end and effective noise cancellation, alongside a respectable 5.5-hour battery life on a single charge. Key features also include intuitive touch controls, a squeezable stem for ease of use, and a comfortable design, albeit slightly bulky for those with smaller ears. The white colorway offers a distinctive Airpod-like aesthetic, while the black colorway allows for a more discreet appearance. While Hall’s testing focused on the bright yellow version, the discount applies to all three offered colorways available on Amazon at the time of the review. The Nothing Ear (a) present a compelling combination of performance and features, making them a worthwhile investment for those seeking a premium wireless listening experience. |
