But the compact Android phone with a BlackBerry-inspired keyboard is now available for preorder through a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign and starts at $489, with a discount for early backers bringing it down to $389. It’s expected to ship as early as June 2026.The Titan 2 Elite is a smaller and lighter version of Unihertz’s Titan 2 that debuted last June as a modernized version of the BlackBerry Passport. The Titan 2 Elite’s design is more reminiscent of the BlackBerry Bold lineup, but with a slightly boxier design to accommodate a 4.03-inch 120Hz AMOLED display. The Elite also features Android 16 with OS upgrades promised to Android 20, 5G connectivity with dual nano SIMs and eSIM, fingerprint and face unlock, a 4,050mAh battery, and a full QWERTY keyboard that can be used as a trackpad. It’s not a thin phone by any stretch of the imagination, but it does include an extra button on the side you can customize to launch apps or shortcuts. The standard Titan 2 Elite features a Dimensity 7400 processor with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The slightly more expensive Titan 2 Elite Pro, which instead starts at $579 (but is temporarily discounted to $479), has a faster Dimensity 8400 processor, a bump to 512GB of storage, and a 50MP telephoto camera upgraded with optical image stabilization capabilities.Follow topics and authors from this story to see more like this in your personalized homepage feed and to receive email updates.Andrew LiszewskiCloseAndrew LiszewskiSenior Reporter, NewsPosts from this author will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed.FollowFollowSee All by Andrew LiszewskiAndroidCloseAndroidPosts from this topic will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed.FollowFollowSee All AndroidGadgetsCloseGadgetsPosts from this topic will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed.FollowFollowSee All GadgetsGoogleCloseGooglePosts from this topic will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed.FollowFollowSee All GoogleKickstarterCloseKickstarterPosts from this topic will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed.FollowFollowSee All KickstarterNewsCloseNewsPosts from this topic will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed.FollowFollowSee All NewsPhonesClosePhonesPosts from this topic will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed.FollowFollowSee All PhonesTechCloseTechPosts from this topic will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed.FollowFollowSee All TechMost PopularMost PopularNvidia CEO Jensen Huang says ‘I think we’ve achieved AGI’The US government just banned consumer routers made outside the USDonut Lab’s solid-state battery could barely hold a charge after getting damagedConfronting the CEO of the AI company that impersonated meVideoAyaneo says selling its Windows gaming handheld ‘is no longer sustainable’The Verge DailyA free daily digest of the news that matters most.Email (required)Sign UpBy submitting your email, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Notice. The Unihertz Titan 2 Elite, a smartphone designed with a nostalgic appeal to BlackBerry users, has launched on Kickstarter, initiating a crowdfunding campaign at $389 for the standard model and $479 for the Pro variant. Reporting on this launch, Andrew Liszewski details the device’s key features, including a BlackBerry-inspired physical keyboard, a 4.03-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, Android 16 operating system with promised upgrades to Android 20, 5G connectivity, and a 4,050mAh battery. The standard Titan 2 Elite utilizes a Dimensity 7400 processor with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the Pro model elevates this to a Dimensity 8400 processor, 512GB of storage, and an optical image stabilization-equipped 50MP telephoto camera. Beyond core specifications, the device incorporates a customizable side button, dual 50MP cameras including a telephoto lens, a 32MP front-facing camera, and support for dual SIMs, including eSIM technology. The design strategically evokes the aesthetics of earlier BlackBerry Bold devices, albeit with a slightly more boxy form factor. Unihertz is aiming for a June 2026 shipping date based on the Kickstarter campaign. The company’s intent is to modernize the classic BlackBerry experience by integrating contemporary features and technology while retaining the essential tactile feedback of a physical keyboard – a key differentiator in a market increasingly dominated by touchscreen interfaces. |
