I couldn’t find anything from <garnix.io> so quoting an email I received from contact@garnix.io:

garnix is shutting down
Hi everyone,
We wanted to let you know that garnix is joining forces with Shopify.
We are sad to announce that, as part of this transition, the hosted garnix service will shut down on July 15th 2026. But we are open sourcing the garnix codebase, available here; we hope this will help you smoothly move to using your own instance or a shared one. If you are interested in operating a public community instance, please get in touch — we’d be happy to talk.
We will also be deleting all user data on July 15th. This includes build artifacts. Be sure to download what you want to keep before then.
Thank you all for using garnix and for the feedback and support over the years. While we are excited about our next step at Shopify, we will also miss working with this community. From the very first, with generous donations in our Open Collective days and thoughtful feedback, you’ve been great.
– the garnix team (Alex David, Sönke Hahn, and Julian K. Arni)

Yeah, saw that. Bummed, because I finally have tweaked my Buildbot to be exactly the way I want it and keyed off my Gitea instance. And just when I complete that process, here comes Garnix dropping all of its code in an open repo dump.
It’s especially a bummer because I don’t have a Mac builder locally, but I use Garnix’s Mac builds for my home-manager on my work MacBooks and it has been fantastic for that. Alas!

The garnix service is undergoing a transition as it joins forces with Shopify, which necessitates the shutdown of the hosted garnix service on July 15th, 2026. As part of this transition, the garnix team, comprising Alex David, Sönke Hahn, and Julian K. Arni, has decided to open-source the entire garnix codebase to assist the community in migrating to their own instances or shared alternatives. Furthermore, all user data, including build artifacts, will be deleted on the specified date, prompting users to download anything they wish to retain beforehand. The team expressed gratitude to the community for their feedback and support throughout the service's operation, acknowledging their appreciation for the contributions made during the Open Collective days and the thoughtful input received.

A user commented on this announcement, expressing disappointment regarding the open-sourcing of the code, noting that they had recently customized their Buildbot setup integrated with their Gitea instance, and this change impacts their workflow. The user also pointed out the practical implications, mentioning that they utilized garnix's Mac builds for their home-manager configuration on their work MacBooks.
