As we’ve done in other cities, we’ll take a phased approach as we scale. After a period of manual driving, we’ll begin autonomous driving with trained, local autonomous specialists behind the wheel, before moving to fully autonomous operations.We will work closely with the Ministry of Transport, the Land Transport Authority, and other local authorities to secure necessary approvals, and keep the public up to date as our operations progress.When and where will you be driving?We will be driving day and night and intend to initially manually drive and map all regions of Singapore, to collect the necessary data for Waymo to seek Land Transport Authority approval for our autonomous driving system in 2027When we begin operations, we will still be in preparation mode with autonomous specialists behind the wheel who will be manually driving. Regarding the deployment strategy in Singapore, Waymo intends to adopt a methodical, phased approach to bring autonomous driving to the region. Initial operations will begin with manual driving and mapping across all regions of Singapore to gather essential data, which will be used to seek necessary approvals from the Land Transport Authority for the autonomous driving system in 2027. Before moving to fully autonomous operations, the process will involve employing trained, local autonomous specialists to drive manually behind the wheel, allowing for thorough testing and validation of their experience. Waymo plans to operate continuously, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure the technology can safely manage various road conditions.

The timeline for service launch is set for 2028.
